40 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Beginning Ash Wednesday (February 14) & Culminating on Easter Sunday

You’re invited to read along with your Converge Church family each day for the next 47 days during the season of Lent as we prepare our hearts to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ Our Lord and countdown to Resurrection Sunday.  CLICK HERE to access the Lent devotional in YouVersion and read along with us!

In addition, we are currently a week into our 40 days of corporate fasting and prayer. The theme of our fast aligns with our devotional … The Path to Surrender. And, our focus during this time will center around the life of Jesus, the passion of Christ and the finished work of the Cross.  It is not too late for you to join us in our daily Prayer and Fasting!  Follow us on social media for strategic prayer points each day of the fast.

Join us as we realign and reorient our lives around our Lord and Savior, Jesus.

I. PURPOSE
To facilitate 40 days of intentional and strategic corporate prayer and fasting where the church’s leadership and its members lean into God in prayer and surrender as we explore Jesus’s journey to the Cross and seek the Lord for spiritual renewal.

II. THEME: The Path of Surrender
During our time of prayer and fasting, we are trusting God:

  1. To experience our Savior’s Person, Purpose, Promises and Power – firsthand. (Ephesians 1:15-23 TPT)
  2. That Christ be formed in us. (Galatians 4:19 NKJV)
  3. That God will strengthen our inner man and dwell in our hearts through faith. (Ephesians 3:14-21 NKJV)
  4. To experience a “quantum leap” in every area of our lives – spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically, relationally, professionally, financially, materially and so on – as God shapes (Jeremiah 18:1-4), shakes (Hebrews 12:26-29), and shifts (Acts 13:1-4) us into our season of prophetic fulfillment.

III. DAILY DEVOTIONAL AND BIBLE READING:
We invite you to read along with us:

Morning Daily Devotional: The Path of Surrender

Evening Daily Bible Reading: The Books of Mark and Luke

  • Starting Sunday, February 18, read one chapter per day beginning with the Book of Mark.

IV. FAST: Weeks 1 and 2
During the first two weeks, we will corporately observe partial, intermittent fasting.  A Partial Fast,  often referred to as the “Jewish Fast”, involves abstaining from all foods for a specified period each day.

During one of the below timeframes of your choosing, consume liquids only (water and natural juices).

  • 6:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
  • 6:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

When breaking your daily fast, we recommended eating “clean” i.e., consuming non-processed, organic foods.

We encourage you to choose what is both meaningful and sacrificial. However, be certain to consider your personal health and dietary limitations. Above all, be led by the promptings of the Holy Spirit as you make your decision. Once you have decided, commit to it for the duration of the fast.

In addition, a Soul Fast is a great option if you do not have much experience fasting from food, have health issues that prevent you from fasting from food, or if you wish to refocus certain areas of your life that are out of balance. For example, you might choose to stop using social media or watching television for the duration of the fast and then carefully reintroduce those activities back into your life in healthy doses at the end of the fast.

Thank you for joining us in this season of corporate prayer and fasting.  Additional details will be shared in the future about our direction for the remaining weeks.
